How to travel

By Air:-  Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International (Dum Dum)  Airport is located in 17 km away from North-East of the Kolkata city. This airport operates both Domestic and International flights. Netaji Airport is the largest airport in eastern India. There are only two International Airports in West Bengal which are Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport and other Bagdogra International Airport. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport is the fifth busiest airport in India.


By Railway:- Howrah Railway Station is located on the bank of river Hooghly connected to Howrah Bridge with 23 platforms. It is one of the busiest railway stations in India. This station has the highest train-handling capacity of any railway station in India. There are other three main stations in Kolkata city which are Sealdah Railway Station, Shalimar Railway Station and Kolkata Railway Station (Chitpur Railway Station).


By Road:- Kolkata is connected to the major cities of the Indian state by the National Highways-2, 6, 34 and 117. Howrah Bridge and Vidyasagar Setu are two bridges connecting Kolkata with Howrah. Vivekananda Setu is the third bridge over the river at the northern reach of the city near Dakshineshwar.


By Metro Rail:- Kolkata Metro Rail is the first uderground metro railway stystem in India. This metro system is serving the city of Kolkata in Indian state of West Bengal. There are two lines -North-South Metro and East-West Metro. Line-1 has a total length of 28 km serving 24 stations of which 15 are underground. Line-2 is under construction. The length will be 14.67km. The Metro Rail service is lifeline for people of Kolkata.

1. Victoria Memorial:- Victoria Memorial was built between 1906 to 1921. It is located at the Maidan on the bank of river Hoogly, Near Jawaharlal Nehru Road, Kolkata, West Bengal. Victoria Memorial is one the most famous tourist places of Kolkata, West Bengal. This memorial is dedicated to the memory of Queen Victoria.

2. Science City:- Science City is located at the crossing of Eastern Metropolitan Bypass and J.B.S. Haldane avenue, Kolkata. This science city is also one of the most popular tourist spots in Kolkata. It is the largest science centre in the Indian subcontinent under National Council of Science Museum, Ministery of Indian Government. 

3. Nicco Park:- This is located at Salt Lake City, Kolkata, West Bengal. This amusement park was built in 1991. Nicco Park is one of the most famous tourist places of Kolkata, West Bengal. This is one of the biggest amusement parks in India. Nicco Park attracts tourists' attention for educative entertainment. Opening Time of this amusement park is in Summer-11 am to 9 pm and in Winter-11 am to 8 pm.


4. Kalighat Kali Temple:- This famous temple is dedicated to the Goddess Kali. Kali Temple is one of the 52 Shakti Peethas. This sacred temple is located on the bank of a small canal called Adi Ganga (Kalighat)  which connects to the Hoogly river. The image of Kali in this temple is unique. At present this idol of this temple was created by two saints-Brahmanada Giri and Atmaram Giri. The three big eyes, long tongue made of gold and four hands which all are made of gold too.


5. Dakshineswar Kali Temple:- Dakshineswar Kali Temple is located on the eastern bank of Hooghly river, Dakshineswar,  Kolkata, West Bengal. This sacred temple was built bya philanthropist and devotee of Kali, Rani Rashmoni in 1855. Dakshineswar Kali Temple is one the most popular tourist spots of Kolkata . This temple is also famous for Ramakrishna's mystic of 19th century.


6. Birla Planetarium:- The Birla Planetarium is situated in Chowringhee Road adjacent to the Victoria Memorial and the Maidan in South Kolkata. It is also one of the most famous tourist places in Kolkata, West Bengal. Birla Planetarium is the biggest plnetarium in Asia and the second biggest in the world. This temple is a circular structure designed Indian styled on the Buddhist Stupa at Sanchi. Programs of this planetarium are conducted in Bangla, English and Hindi from 12 pm to 7 pm. This is also known as Taramandal was inaugurated by Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on 2nd July 1963.


7. Indian Museum:- The Indian Museum is the oldest and largest museum in India. This museum has unique collections of armour and ornaments, fossils, skeletons, mummies and Mughal paintings. The Indian Museum is one of the most visited tourist places of Kolkata. This museum was founded in 1814 by the Asiatic Society of Bengal in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. This amuzing museum has six sections namely Art, Archaeology, Anthropology, Geology, Zoology and Economic Botany.
